“Get ready for a killer ride”…is the tagline to Death Race, featuring the ruggedly handsome Jason Statham, who’s fans are, no doubt, anxiously waiting for the release date, and must be pleasantly surprised that it was moved up from September 26 to August 22, 2008.

The director Paul W.S. Anderson brings us this remake of the original Death Race 2000 (1975) and includes co-stars Joan Allen, Tyrese Gibson, Ian McShane and Natalie Martinez. (IMDb)

Three-time speedway champion Jensen Ames (Jason Statham) is an expert at survival in the harsh landscape that has become our country. Just as he thinks he has turned his life around, the ex-con is framed for a gruesome murder he didn’t commit. So, will this remake live up to the original? Or is it best to stick to the rule “If it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it”?
