Uwe Boll’s Far Cry
Basing movies on computer games is nothing new these days, but in the case of the recent Hitman movie, gamers were hoping for more than they actually got. In recent years, games such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Tombraider, and Doom have found their way onto the big screen with varying degrees of success, but none looked as bad as the cinematic interpretation of Far Cry by Uwe Boll. The director is already known for the appalling BloodRayne movie.
On a brighter note, another movie based on Far Cry’s sequel, Crysis, will also be made, but for now, we will have to tolerate what looks like the very amateurish Far Cry. If you can’t wait to see what might be one of the most disastrous game-to-move adaptations of all time, you’re going to have to. Kotaku reports that the film will be available in movie theaters next year.
Far Cry will also be heading to movie theaters–likely in 2009. Controversial film director Uwe Boll has wrapped the film version of Crytek’s original game. Yerli said that licensing the film rights to fellow German Boll was the right business decision at the right time and they had good talks with the director.
“Unfortunately, we have not been involved in the film since very early when it was a script,” said Yerli. “However, I think the script changed and improved radically since then, at least I hope it has, since I can’t wait to see the movie. It will be so exciting to watch the Far Cry movie.”
To be honest, however, even watching the trailer below seems tedious.
