Tim Burton thought long before deciding to shoot another movie about Alice. But I should say, I have never seen or even imagined the Wonderland so bright and colorful and so 3D! It definitely surpassed all my expectations! Before watching it I thought nothing would beat the ‘Avatar’.
The “Avatar” was the first to blow everyone to the cinemas to enjoy the benefits of new technologies, now it’s “Alice in Wonderland”.
The film is, of course, based on Lewis Carol’s book, but the only thing that is left the same are the characters. The plot of the story is changed. Alice is now 19 and is forced to get married to a dull guy without any imagination.
The real story begins at the moment when she is getting a marriage proposal from him, but instead of answering she runs after a rabbit and falls down the rabbit hole. She doesn’t remember that she had been there before and gets to know her old friends the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter again (another perfect role of the incomparable Johnny Depp). Her Mission is to save the Wonderland from the evil Red Queen and bring peace to all the little inhabitants of the magical world.
As far as I know, the new animated movie was first planned to be 2D, but under particular circumstances, mainly in order to get more profit, Tim Burton changed the profile of his new creation and added 3D animation design. Though the amazing video effects the movie has not lost its mood – you do not watch it only for sake of the effects. The movie is thrilling, cute, it’s fun – it’s everything in one!
The duration of Alice in Wonderland is about 1 hour 50 minutes, but you get so gripped by the magic that it seems the movie wraps up too quickly. Maybe I repeat myself, but the 3D effects are great! Only the grinning head of the Cheshire cat, emerging from the darkness is worth watching the whole movie. You get totally into it, you become a participant of all the wanderings of Alice and you don’t want the fairy tale to stop!
My advice to everyone: watch it!
