Who may have an idea that one day a “Disney” star Selena Gomez, famous for her role of Alex Russo in Disney’s TV series “Wizards of Waverly Place”, and Nicole Kidman will be competing for the same role? This is Hollywood and everything is possible here!
According to the reports, the 17-year-old actress is replacing the 42-year-old Aussie star in an upcoming comedy movie “Monte Carlo“, based on the book “Headhunters” by Jules Bass, yet with a modern adaptation. The film shooting will be taken in Monaco, Budapest and Paris, though the release date of the film is still unknown!
Producers for this movie decided to make the film modern, so they preferred to go with Selena rather than their first choice -Nicole. Selena will play a student who takes a trip to Paris with her two American gals. While vacationing in Monaco, girls pretend to be wealthy ladies; Selena will play the youngest of the three. Leighton Meester from the movie “Gossip Girl” is also in negotiations to join the cast.
How would Kidman cast her like a student? Though she is totally out of the picture, she may be the producer of the film and also play a supporting role in the movie.
This sounds like a big role for Selena, yet it won’t be Selena’s first chief role in the world of movie; her forthcoming “Ramona & Beezus” will hit the big screen on July 23, 2010.
With her upcoming new comedy movies -”What Boys Want on deck”, “Ramona and Beezus” and “Monte Carlo” Selena seems to become a quite acclaimed film star!
