‘Get Low,’ A True Tall Tale

Get Low, A True Tall TaleFelix Bush (performed by Robert Duvall), the main hero of the upcoming film “Get Low,” is a hermit living alone deep in a forest for 38 years. And now he has decided to come back to the city and open the secret that kept him in the forest for such a long time.

What secrets could Felix have to isolate himself from human beings and live in a God-forsaken place where dogs and mules were his only friends? This is the question that made everybody in the town invent various believable and unbelievable stories about him and his life.

So now Felix intends to tell the townspeople what made him become a hermit. But the way he wants to make the confession is a bit strange. He organizes his own funeral and asks a priest (Bill Cobbs) to conduct the service. But the priest refuses to do that, saying that he will never do anything against God. But Frank Quinn (Bill Murray)–the owner of the Funeral Parlor–gladly welcomes the idea, as he is promised some payment.

Before making the long awaited confession, Felix intends to hear all the legends around him. When people tell about what they know, a few others appear on the screen–they know the former hermit’s secret. Mattie Darrow (Sissy Spacek)–a widow–is one of them.

The director of the film “Get Low,” Aaron Schneider depicted the story against the backdrop of the miserable years of the Great Depression when gossips and fistfights were the main entertainment for people.

Due to the superb acting prowess of Hollywood veteran Robert Duvall (a winner of an Academy Film Award, two Emmy Awards and four Golden Globe awards) and the hilarious Bill Murray, “Get Low” will most likely do well in the box office. And the sly humor in contrast with heartbreaking dialogue will make the movie even more interesting.

As for the hermit’s secret, you can discover it on July 30.
