Starring Hayden Christensen and Jessica Alba, the DVD of the movie “Awake” will be released on April 4.
The hero of the movie is Clayton (Hayden Christensen), who is married to their family servant, charming Samantha (Jessica Alba). Clayton and Samantha are happy and enjoy their family life till one day Clayton undergoes an open heart surgery during which he suffers anesthetic awareness — he is awake but paralyzed.
News Blaze reports that Awake “is most creepy when it takes medical procedures to extremes.”
Later, Clayton’s ghost wanders around the hospital and a nearby subway platform barefoot and in a hospital gown, mulling his own near death experience. Less convincing but still sufficiently yucky is a related yarn about medical treatment for profit brought to a new low, something we’ve all likely experienced.
According to Looking For DVD, the scenes in the movie develop fast and become depressing to the point when Samantha has to save Clayton’s life.
He became paralyzed and in nearly comatose state. Sam hears one of the doctor said that they have to kill Clay to save themselves into trouble. Sam must decide for her to be able to save Clay’s life.
Awake finishes with surgeon Dr. Harper saying, “He is awake.”
