“Lo Sono L’amore” or “I Am Love” is an Italian drama movie directed by Luca Guadagnino.
The film stars Tilda Swinton, Flavio Parenti, Gabriele Ferzetti, Pippo Delbono and Edoardo Gabbriellini. It’s distributed by Magnolia Pictures and is going to be released on June 18.
The film tells a most interesting story of unconditional love. Edoardo Sr. (Gabriele Ferzetti) is the patriarch of the Recchi family. He gathers the whole family to share the ownership of his company. He decides to pass his business on to his son Tancredi (Pippo Delbono) and his grandson Edoardo Jr. or simply Edo (Flavio Parenti). This was extremely unexpected for the family.
Tancredi and his wife Emma (Tilda Swinton), who is a Russian immigrant, have a daughter, Elizabeth (Alba Rohrwacher) who turns out to be a lesbian and a son Edoardo Jr. But Edo dreams about opening a restaurant with his friend Antonio (Edoardo Gabriellini).
On the same evening Edo introduces Antonio to his mother Emma, who is worried and tries to hide her feelings. She realizes that she fell in love with Antonio. And she enters a love affair. Emma takes a trip to Sanremo and sees Antonio there. Edo takes a trip to London as he doesn’t want to be involved in family’s business. Emma’s husband, Tancredi, soon realizes that things are going wrong.
The rich and influential family faces a breaking period. Tancredi’s wife is in love with their son’s friend, their daughter is lesbian, Edo leaves the ownership and goes to London… Everything seems to go upside down.
The plot is very interesting and the movie seems to be one of the best drama movies coming out this year, I think.
