Are you interested in top drama movies? The upcoming drama film “Never Let Me Go” will attract your attention then.
The film cast is headed by the talented British beauty Keira Knightley (“Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Love Actually,” “Domino,” “Pride and Prejudice,” “Atonement”), and this fact was enough for me to get interested in it. Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield also play in this movie.
“Never Let Me Go” is based on the book of Japanese-English novelist Kazuo Ishiguro. It’s directed by Mark Romanek and produced by Allon Reich, Alex Garland, Richard Hewitt, Andrew Macdonald, Mark Romanek and Tessa Ross. The film will be distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox. It’s going to be released on September 15 in the US.
The film will open the 54th London Film Festival (October 13-28) and will premiere at 2010 Toronto International Film Festival (September 9-19).
Director Mark Romanek said: “I think I can speak for the entire cast and crew when I say that we are deeply honored and excited to have been selected to open this year’s festival.”
If you have read the book by Kazuo Ishiguro, then you already know the plot of the film. But it’s always interesting to compare the movie with the book it’s based on.
The film tells a story of three children living in an English boarding school at Hailsham — Kathy (Mulligan), Tommy (Garfield) and Ruth (Knightley). They seem to live in another world that none of other people knows. When they leave their shelter they enter an adult life leaving seemingly idyllic school behind. They want to reveal the mysteries of their past and need to prepare to meet the reality outside. They learn love, jealousy, betrayal…
The film was highly appreciated by Sandra Hebron — the London Film Festival’s artistic director — for the “impeccable film making, outstanding performances and a deeply moving story.”
