‘The Road’: Let’s Take It Together
Very good news for those fans of Cormac McCarty’s best-selling novel, “The Road!” The movie which is based on the book will be released on November 25. Very soon we’ll witness the success of movie DVD releases in late 2009.
The number of movies that predict the apocalypse or display it with fantastic effects is countless. In most of them there is a focus on the effects rather than on moral value. But “The Road” film delivers an exception to the trend.
According to the movie’s summery the main events of ”The Road” involve a son (the Boy) and a father (the Man) who have survived the apocalypse. Through devastated, burned and cold lands they make their way to the south where they hope to find some warmth. On their uneasy way they face and overcome cruel and bitter challenges but still keep their humanity.
The film’s producer Nick Wechsler and director John Hillcoat have selected a highly professional cast for “The Road”: Viggo Mortensen starring as the Man, Kodi Smit-McPhee as the Boy, Charlize Theron as the Wife who is seen in the Man’s memories, Guy Pearce, Robert Duvall and many others.
The film was first shown in the Venice International Film Festival in September 2009. Judging by the critical acclaim it’s gained so far ”The Road” is going to be added to our collection of the best and most beloved movies. The end of the film will prove that it’s worth the $30 million spent on production.
I’m impatient for it to appear on the screen. And you? Do you also want “to take the road” with such a fabulous cast?
