The Eye

Directed by David Moreau with starring Jessica Alba, The Eye premiers in Paris this week. The film is a horror drama about violist Sydney Wells (Jessica Alba) who has been blind since early childhood. Later, after eye surgery which restores her sight, Wells realizes that her eye donor has opened a terrifying world that only she can see.
Right Celebrity reports that the tagline of the movie is, “How can you believe your eyes when they’re not yours?”
According to The New York Times, the scenes in the movie are depressing and stressful. The Eye begins with Wells’s whining, “I want to see the world like everyone else.”
If only Ms. Alba’s narration — as vapid as her acting — were the film’s only problem. Blind since the age of 5, Sydney is unprepared when a cornea transplant not only restores her sight but also allows her to see dead people. As the departed stalk her in elevators and accost her in corridors, Sydney resolves to trace the origins of her new peepers. Naturally, every step of this journey must be spelled out — twice.
The Eye was a Paramount project, and Renee Zellweger was originally the first choice for the main role. Later, after the project fell through, the role was given to Jessica Alba.
