Top 10 Movies Of All Times

Top 10 Movies Of All TimesChoosing 10 out of thousands of amazing and capturing movies was not easy. I would rather make a list of about a hundred movies, but that would be too much for a single post.

So, by recalling all my evenings in the cinemas or in front of my beloved TV, I actually managed to sum up the cinematographic efforts of humanity into my own list of top 10 best movies, which are all unique. They all brought something new into the world and were somehow revolutionary.

Without further adieu:

  • La Strada.” Maestro Frederico Fellini, what would we be doing now without your contribution to cinema? And though many of you might consider “8 1/2″ a better film, the background story of “La Strada” is emotional, aesthetic and moral, making it more important. The wonderful acting of Anthony Quinn and the amazing Giulietta Masina (Fellini’s wife) brought this film into my top ten.
  • One Flew Over the Cookoo’s Nest.” One name — Jack Nicholson. Every single one of his roles demonstrates true genius. But in this movie, he flew over his own head. He must have been totally crazy to fit in that loony-bin, and he earned his Oscar for that role! This movie gained its place among academy award movies.
  • The Godfather.” Attention, men, you should pay me a tribute for this entry. I myself do not consider this movie so astounding, but after asking all the men around what the best movie ever was for them and hearing “The Godfather” 100 times a day, I would count myself totally ignorant if I didn’t put this movie on the list. The performances by Marlon Brando, James Caan and especially Al Pacino are astounding, I must admit.
  • A Clockwork Orange.” Stanley Kubrick made a wonderfully insane movie out of the homonymous novel by Anthony Burgess. The contradicting combination of violence, classical music and white and black thoughts are on one hand repulsive, yet on the other, captivating. This movie, starring an insane Malcolm McDowell, leaves a lasting impression.
  • Rain Man.” This film depicts both the sad and even funny sides of autism, magnificently portrayed through Dustin Hoffman. Citing Hoffman’s character, “One for bad, two for good,” Tom Cruise mildly spices up the wonderful character scheme.
  • Forrest Gump.” “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get,” one of the most memorable lines in film as told by Forrest Gump, brilliantly played by Tom Hanks. This is one of many expressions that turned Forrest Gump into one of the most known characters on earth. The somewhat challenged title character of this movie becomes a participant in all the essential events in American modern history, thus creating an image of what role a simple American can play for his country. This is my favorite movie ever, and I would never stop watching it!
  • Pulp Fiction.” Ah, Tarantino, this list wouldn’t be complete without his masterpiece. Starring John Travolta, Uma Turman, Samuel Jackson and Bruce Willis, Quentin Tarantino made a wonderful piece of art from practically no plot, with all due respect!
  • Breakfast at Tifanny’s.” This is the most famous movie with Audrey Hepburn… and she’s the greatest. Even the dress and the cigarette from the movie have become legendary– what could I say about the movie itself? It’s impossible to put into words.
  • Back to the Future.” This might seem funny, but the first installment in a series of three films starring Michael J. Fox and the hilarious Christopher Lloyd is thrilling, so thrilling that I can watch it thousands of times. Both the idea and realization of time travel are unbelievably captured in the form of comedy, and I can safely say this is the best adventure movie ever!
  • Grease.” In a time when almost everybody hates musicals, this one is the only movie of its type that will never fade away. The songs for this film was in the top of the charts for years. Even now when watching this good ol’  love story starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John with such enthusiasm, you could never say it was shot in 1978!

No matter whether a comedy, drama or thriller, all of them are classics, and shame on you if you haven’t watched any of them!
