Denzel Washington Movies: Running The Gamut From Exciting To Shakespeare

Denzel Washington Movies: Running The Gamut From Exciting To ShakespeareDenzel Washington is, in my opinion of the best leading male actors to come along in a long time. The first time I saw him was in Glory a movie based on the true story of the 54th Regiment of Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry that fought in the civil war. Made up mostly of black men, this movie was moving and emotional and Denzel made us feel the pain he lived as a runaway slave. Powerful movie and will always have a place in my list of favorite movies. He won an academy award for best actor for his portrayal of private Trip, a hot head and voice of reason for the rest of the troops. So many Denzel Washington movies would be difficult to lay claim to a favorite. Another of the Denzel Washington movies that laid hold of my heart is The Book of Eli. The movie takes place after an apocalypse changes the world for the worst and makes water a highly valued treasure. Eli has been walking through the wastelands with a book he has been chosen to take west. Hollywood and the Hughes Brothers pull off a Christian man as an unlikely hero. Lots of action and a surprising ending make this, one movie I have watched over and over again.

Denzel has won an academy award for best actor in the movie Training Day, as well as Glory and was nominated for ‘Hurricane’ in 1999 and ‘Malcolm X’ in 1992. Denzel Washington movies total forty in his career and I for one am always in anticipation of a new one.
