If you only know him from Pretty Woman, considered one of the top 10 romantic movies ever made, then you might be interested to know that there are quite a few more Richard Gere movies out there.
Starring as Billy Flynn in Chicago, the actor performed his own singing and dancing. He played Dr. T in Dr. T and the Women. In one of the more famous Richard Gere movies, who can forget him as Zack Mayo in An Officer and a Gentleman, another one of the top 10 romantic movies of all time?
While the actor had his start back in the 70’s, he didn’t put himself on the map until 1980’s American Gigolo. During the 80’s he starred in four more movies not already mentioned. He played Jesse Lujack in Breathless and Dr. Eduardo Plarr in Beyond the Limit, both in 1983, Dixie Dwyer in The Cotton Club in 1984, David in King David in 1985, Pete St. John in Power and Eddie Jillette in No Mercy, both in 1986, and Frank Roberts in Miles from Home in 1988.
Another one of the more noted Richard Gere movies was in 1999 when he played Ike Graham, a newspaper reporter hunting down Julia Roberts in Runaway Bride. His other 1990’s films include Sommersby, Final Analysis, Rhapsody in August, Internal Affairs, The Jackal, Red corner, Primal Fear, First Knight, and Intersection.
Since 2000, Gere has starred in more than fifteen films and has three scheduled to release in 2012.
