Six Commercials Nominated For Emmy: Part 1

Six Commercials Nominated For Emmy: Part 1On this blog, as you have probably noticed already, we mostly talk about romantic comedy movies and share our opinions and expectations about them. But what is a commercial if not a miniature expression of thoughts, the same way a full-length feature film conveys?

Of course, the aim of a commercial is not to gain a large following. The directors of advertisements strive to create something memorable, something that stays in the minds of people and influences their buying decisions.

But commercials happen to be nominated for awards, and though we hardly ever follow their success and prizes, I think we should do that from now on.

Here are six commercials that have been nominated for the Emmy awards, which will take place on August 29.

These are the 6 nominees for Outstanding Commercial: Anthem–Absolut, Finals–Coca-Cola, Game–Snickers, Green Car–Audi, Human Chain–Nike, and The Man Your Man Could Smell Like–Old Spice Body Wash.

Well, let’s start with the first one–the commercial for Absolut vodka. I don’t know about you, but for me the commercial and the idea that the latter is about vodka, was somehow controversial. Especially seeing the motto “Doing things different, brings to something exceptional” made me doubt for a second that I’m watching the right commercial.

Anyway, apart from that, the commercial demonstrates great camera work. The seven scenes of the so-called word-formation are truly well done. The only short-coming of the commercial is the appearance of the Absolut vodka bottle at the end…

Do you share my opinion about this commercial? Read my next post about the other Emmy award-nominated commercials that I mentioned above.
