Sony Pictures stars Tom Hanks for the part of Robert Landon in the film “Angels and Demons” by Ron Howard, one of the best directors of our time. The film is based on the novel of Dan Brown “Angels and Demons.”
Two years ago slashfilm.com spread a rumor that Tom Hanks had signed a $30 agreement with Sony Pictures for the role of the Harvard University professor, Robert Landon. Those who have seen “The Da Vinci Code” are already familiar with the hero.
According to Apple.com the film will be released on May 15, 2009. After the criticism surrounding “The Da Vinci Code,” we are all looking forward to reaction from the church and the general public.
There are several episodes in the film where the action occurs in the Vatican. However, the Vatican, which was harshly critical of the “The Da Vinci Code” novel and the film on which it was based, did not permit filming in the churches of Santa Maria del Popolo and Santa Maria della Vittoria in Rome. The reason is explained in an article published on June 17, 2008 on the Times Online Web site.
“When a film is about the saints or about stories regarding the Church’s artistic values, then we give permission without any doubts, Father Fibbi told the TV listings magazine Sorrisi e Canzoni (Smiles and Songs). “But when it is a question of content which does not relate to traditional religious criteria, then our doors are closed.”
I am really looking forward to this film’s release. What about you?
