“Eat, Pray, Love” with Julia Roberts is definitely one of the best dream movies I’ve ever seen.
This romantic drama about a lost woman in a search of herself made me dream during the screening and think about the psychological development of a woman who had to make some difficult choices.
The film was released in the US only a few days ago — on August 13, so I recommend you hurry to the theaters to see this film adaptation of the autobiographical novel by the great writer Elizabeth Gilbert.
Once I thought that when you read a book and then watch the film based on that book, you feel that something is missing in the film and it is not as perfect as it could be. But you can’t think the same about “Eat, Pray, Love!”
Julia Roberts plays the main character, and I think nobody else could play that crazy, emotional and strong Liz Gilbert better than Julia.
This film isn’t like the dozens of romantic films Julia Roberts stars in. It is much deeper. It shows the real life of many modern “lucky” men, who seem to have everything to be happy and satisfied — a family, home, successful career, but are still unhappy. Why? During those years of getting it all, they lost their dreams, ideas and ideals. They lost themselves. And one day they realize that their lives are empty, but not everyone would dare to start everything over.
After a sorrowful divorce, 32-year-old Elizabeth Gilbert begins a journey that passes through Italy, India and Indonesia — three places that all begin with the letter “I.” Don’t you think this “I” has some symbolic meaning? I do…
The letter “I” coincides with English personal pronoun “I.” Here the symbolic revelation begins. The three places stand for three parts that each “I” consists of: physical, spiritual and something in between these two. Liz’s journey passed not through the three countries, but through her true self. She left everything to find herself.
In Italy, she ate and enjoyed her life. She was weak and thin before going to Italy, and there she found her physical part. In India, yoga and meditations helped her find her spirituality. And in Indonesia, she found love, real love. And do you know what is true love? It is what I call “something between these two” above. Truly, it is the only feeling that we need to experience both physically and spiritually — it is the balance of the two.
I don’t recommend you watch this film just because it is one of the best romantic movies right now. Watch it, because it has a very high inspirational value. It enhances your life, it returns your dreams, it gives you strength.
