Should Madonna Remake Casablanca?
Rumor has it that Madonna plans to remake Casablanca, widely considered to be one of the greatest films of all time. The singer who hasn’t had as much success in the world of film also plans to take the lead role of Ilsa Lund.
However, while Ingrid Bergman played that role in the original at the age in her 20s, Madonna is nearing 50. What’s even more amazing is that, according to the Daily Mail, the singer is believed to wants to set the movie in Iraq. Maybe Madonna thinks that a remade Casablanca will also do well at the Oscars, or she thinks it will help her earn a better reputation as actress, but few others seem convinced.
As Joblo.com has commented, it’s not clear how and why Madonna came up with this idea.
“She and her representatives have been touting around a project which is a remake of Casablanca. The reception has been lukewarm to say the least. No one can understand why she wants to redo what many people consider the greatest film of all time.”
None of this has been officially confirmed, and maybe even Madonna and her people are simply testing the how people will react to this sensational announcement before deciding to proceed or not.
