The Children Of Huang Shi
The Children of Huang Shi, directed by Roger Spottiswoode and produced by Arthur Cohn, Wieland Schulz-Keil and Peter Loehr, is set to release this May. The movie stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Michelle Yeoh, Chow Yun-Fat, Radha Mitchell and Guang Wen.
The Children of Hunag Shi is inspired by true events that focus on the life of George Hogg, a young British journalist, who rescues 60 orphaned children. Hogg leads them on a treacherous 1000-mile journey, during which he falls in love with self-trained nurse Madame Wang. Wang assists Hogg and his children in guiding them to safety in a remote village near the western end of the China’s Great Wall.
Rotten Tomatoes reports that along the way to the China’s Great Wall, Hogg and Wang discover the true meaning of love, responsibility and courage.
The film centers on a young English journalist (JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS), an American nurse (RADHA MITCHELL) and the leader of a Chinese parti- san group (CHOW YUN FAT) who meet in desperate and unexpected circumstances. Together they rescue 60-orphaned, children leading them on an extraordinary journey, across hundreds of miles of treacherous terrain, through snow-covered mountains and an unforgiving desert.
According to Empire Movies, The Children of Huang Shi movie is set against war - torn China of the 1930’s.
